The first semester of the 4th year of the Bachelor Degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management allows you to follow two different tracks:

  • Academic Track: Student Exchange. Enrol in subjects at a partner university
  • Professional Track: International Internship. A full-time internship in an international company

PROCEDURE - Semester 7 itinerary's election and application

The steps to be taken for the semester 7 itinerary's election are as follows:

    1. The academic direction presents the different itineraries for the semester to get to know the procedures and deadlines for the different itineraries
    2. 3rd year students' attendance is compulsory and it will be taken into account for prioritising the requests
    3. A specific session regarding the student exchange option will be held. Students are required to read the University partners information
    4. Students apply for one itinerary through the following form (disabled).
      1. Regarding Student exchange: Some universities require an official language certificate and a transcript of records with a minimum grade
      2. Regading International Internship: an up-to-date NIE is required for students with a nationality other than Spanish
      3. Once the itinerary has been approved by the academic direction it cannot be changed unless there is force majeure
    5. The academic coordinator evaluates the applications and notifies the results by mail.  
    6. Students follow the procedure of the chosen itinerary
    7. Students apply for grants for international mobility according to their destination


PROCEDURE - Application for the International Internship 

  1. Professional development advisors organize a mentoring session with students in order to start the process.
  2. Students take into account the deadline when the selection process should be completed.
  3. Student, HTSI and the company sign the agreement.


PROCEDURE - Application for the Student Exchange

  1. Academic advisor contacts with students in order to start the process
  2. Students read the following documents to understand the legal and academic requirements that need to be fulfilled for the exchange to take place, as well as the selection and priority criteria of the universities to which they will apply. In addition, the rights and obligations of the student are included.
    1. Read Norms and regulations for student exchange mobility (Spanish version) or  (English version)
    2. Read Student Exchange Guide for semester 7 (Spanish version)  or (English version)
    3. Read information regarding the Partner Universities
  3. Student and an academic advisor meet to confirm the choice of university and their subjects and also to solve doubts regarding the student exchange process. Before the meeting is compulsory
  4. Student fills out the student exchange acceptance statement and sends it scanned to with the subject line: “Student exchage acceptance statement”.
  5. HTSI nominates students to each one of the host universities
  6. Host Universties contact directly to the students to let them know how to proceed with the application process. If student is not accepted, an academic advisor will offer other universities and/or a change of itinerary. It is important to remember that the student is responsible for:
    1. Applying directly to the Host University
    2. Managing the necessary legal documents (ID card, Passport, Visa, etc.)
    3. Finding accommodation and travel arrangements
    4. Contracting travelers’ insurance
    5. Registering with the national travelers’ registry
  7. The Host University will emit the resulting pre-registration (April-May)
  8. Student selects 30 ECTS from courses at Host University and prepare a document with a prioritized list of possible subjects with a short description. Courses that are similar to completed credits or subjects that will be taken in semester 8 cannot be chosen.
  9. The academic direction reviews the list to ensure the chosen subjects are appropriate to the curriculum (May-June). If an student that cannot provide a list of valid subjects within the application period of the Host university, student will be forwared to other itinerary.
  10. Student fills out the Learning Agreement following the HTSI's suggestions and recommendations
  11. Student sends the Learning Agreement to the Host University with copy to
  12. The Host University returns the Learning Agreement to the student (June-August)
  13. Student deliver the Learning Agreement by mail to (June-September).

  • The Evaluation Committee for semester 7 requests is made up of representatives of program management, Career Services, and the International Office.
