Most formalities can be completed in person, or by telephone or email. The times these services are available depend on the library opening hours. These services can be used by individuals from the HTSI university community (students, administrative and services staff, teaching and research staff).

  • To use this service, you must present your university ID card (TUI) at the loans desk.
  • If you still do not have a university ID, you must present a certification document, and library staff will see whether or not you are authorized to use the service.

The loaning service allows you to remove books and documents from the library for a limited period of time, so you can use them at home.

To borrow documents, you must be in possession of an active student card; this means you have accepted the conditions established by the regulations and rules of service. You must also be free of penalizations.

The number of documents you can borrow and the number of days you can keep them varies depending on the type of user.

To use the service, you must consult the URL library catalogue to see whether the document is available, and where on the shelves it can be found. Once you have located the document, you must bring it to the loans desk to formalize the loan.

If the desired document is on loan or is in another URL library, you can reserve it using the option My account in the URL catalogue (see Online procedures), by telephone, email or directly at the loans desk at the library where the document is to be found (see Access to URL Libraries).

Unified Consortium Loans (PUC) are a free service that allows authorized users to request and borrow documents not available at HTSI. These documents can be found in the libraries of the institutions that make up the CSUC.

The university libraries that participate in the PUC are those of UB, UAB, UPC, UPF, UdG, UdL, URV, UOC, URL and UVIC-UCC, as well as the National Library of Catalonia.

Inter-library loans are a service that allows you to obtain documents (books, articles, etc.) that cannot be found at URL libraries, and that are not available through PUC.

Documents must be returned to the library desk within the established loan period. Anyone can return documents, as TUI cards are not needed.

Documents that have not been returned, whether lost or damaged, must be paid for by the user. Until then, the user is temporarily excluded from library services.

For every day they are late in returning of loaned documents, users will be penalized with one day without being permitted to use the loan service.

In addition, HTSI reserves the right to block services associated with HTSI users such as Moodle, ambits, campus or VPN if the document is not returned. Services will be re-established once the documents are returned or the corresponding fee is paid.

The URL catalogue includes a series of interesting functions. Using the My account option found in the URL catalogue, you can view the documents you are currently borrowing.

This option also allows users to check their history of loaned documents by clicking on the icon My loan history. When users access the catalogue for the first time, they must activate this option by clicking the Activate my loan history icon.

Borrowed documents can be kept for a longer period if the user renews them using the My account option in the URL catalogue. The system will show the documents currently on loan, and the user can either select the individual documents they would like to renew or click Renew all.

Users can also request reservations at the library desk, by telephone or by email.

The following requirements must be taken into account:

  • Documents can be renewed up to 4 times.
  • Documents can be renewed as long as they have not been reserved by another user.
  • Documents can be renewed within the loan period. If the return date has gone by, the documents cannot be renewed.
  • Users whose cards have been blocked cannot renew documents.

Users can reserve copies of specific titles, whether they are books that have been loaned to others or books that are currently available.

In order to reserve a document, you must access My account from the URL catalogue, find the document you are looking for and click on the icon Reserve this title. You must then select the library where you will retrieve the document (the user’s school library will appear by default). When the document arrives at the selected library, the user will be informed by email (using the institutional account, and they will have 4 working days to retrieve it.

Reservations can also be made at the library desk, by telephone or by email.

The following requirements must be taken into account:

  • Penalized users or users with pending loans cannot reserve items.
  • You will not be allowed to make a reservation if you have borrowed or reserved another copy of the same book.
  • You cannot reserve copies that are found in a department or that are missing.

Reservations can also be made at the library desk, by telephone or by email.
